There's s lot of beautiful country here. I hope y'all don't mind if I like my little corner best.
Truly, it's all lovely-mountains, prairie, foothills, prairie, lake country, prairie, city, prairie, forest and...yes the vast stretch of golden prairie.
But I'm an Island girl. Gumboots are in my blood. That's a metaphor.
My dad was born here, and my Grampa, Edwin. My own kids and now my little grandbaby Edwin. Fifth generation Islander? Yup.
Most people living on Vancouver Island arrived last week. Or last year. Our
island ancestry stretches back to the late 1800's.
It's queer to be proud of one's heritage. Because you know it was chock full of rum runners and draft dodgers like as not.
But I'm an Island girl.
