Yesterday we went to a long overdue field trip to Butterfly World in Coombs. Rosebud has been doing a unit study on butterflies, moths and dinosaurs for the last three or four years, and I've been talking about taking a trip there.
She was beside herself with wonder and excitement at the prospect of a world of butterflies.
Until we arrived and entered the door into the world of butterflies. That is when the terror struck...
Firstly, butterflies were everywhere. And, if that wasn't enough to push one over the edge, they flew around, even towards people. When she heard that sometimes the butterflies land on you, well.
I'm sure you can all imagine the stress caused by delicate and beautiful, tiny creatures in their slow motion flight pattern gently alighting on the exquisitely coloured tropical plants all around.
"I just didn't know they were going to MOVE so much. I'm used to seeing them STILL." Rosebud whispers to me, so as not to excite the irascible winged wonders, while grabbing my leg and burying her head in my belly.
Sigh.
